South Asian Law Students Association

The purpose of the South Asian Law Students Association (SALSA) at Detroit Mercy Law shall provide an organizational framework to address South Asian American and South Asian legal issues.

The goals of SALSA shall be to ensure the continuity and growth of South Asian educational, cultural, social, and legal opportunities within the Detroit Mercy Law as well as the greater Detroit and American communities. SALSA shall serve as a support group to South Asian students. Additionally, SALSA will endeavor to build a better understanding of the South Asian experience that, through its members, programs, resources and functions, will permeate the law school’s atmosphere. In this respect, SALSA shall contribute to the pursuit of multicultural expression, understanding, and awareness of diverse backgrounds within the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law and beyond.
