114th Annual Red Mass

Join Detroit Mercy Law and the legal community in celebrating the 114th Annual Red Mass. Red Mass is an occasion for judges, attorneys, civic leaders, and law students of all faiths to come together and pray for blessings and strength in the coming year’s work. This year’s Red Mass will be celebrated by Archbishop Edward J. Weisenburger, Archdiocese of Detroit. The Honorable Stephen J. Murphy III, U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan will lead the Renewal of the Lawyer’s Oath of Commitment. A luncheon reception in the atrium at Detroit Mercy Law immediately follows the service.

Discover Detroit Mercy Law Day
Friday, October 16, 2026, 1:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m., Detroit Mercy Law, in-person
Prospective students and their guest(s) are invited to come to our campus in Downtown Detroit to learn more about Detroit Mercy Law. The event will take place from 1 to 4 pm on Friday, October 16. You will have the opportunity to hear from Grace Henning and Stephanie Winbigler, Directors of Admissions, about the application process and what Detroit Mercy Law looks for in an applicant as well as take a mock law class with a Detroit Mercy Law professor, and take a tour of the building with a current student.

University of Detroit Mercy School of Law appointed J. Richard Broughton, Associate Dean of Faculty Research and Development and Professor of Law, as the Philip J. McElroy Professor of Law, in recognition of his distinguished contributions to legal scholarship and teaching.
University of Detroit Mercy School of Law’s 2025 graduates achieved a 93 percent employment rate in legal and professional positions. Graduates secured employment in a variety of settings, including positions with law firms, courts, and government, business, and public interest organizations across the United States and Canada.
Detroit Mercy Law is the first and only law school to offer an online JD program in Michigan. Applications are now open for the first incoming class, to begin in fall 2026. The program is designed to be a fully-online, part-time, four-year program.
