Detroit Mercy Law graduate Evelyn Galvan awarded Vivere Ex Missione Award

evelyn galvan mission award winnerUniversity of Detroit Mercy School of Law graduate Evelyn Galvan ’24 was awarded the 2024 Vivere Ex Missione Award. Each year, Detroit Mercy presents the Vivere Ex Missione-- “To Live Out the Mission”--award to four graduating students, including one from the School of Law. This award is presented as a surprise at the commencement ceremony.  

Galvan received this award for her dedication to service and justice, as demonstrated through her commitment to the school during her three years as a law student. She was the Executive Director of External Competitions for the Moot Court Board of Advocates and was a member of the Law Review.  

She served as the President of the Hispanic and Latino/a Law Student Association, brining representation and awareness of the Hispanic and Latino/a community the school and wider Detroit legal profession. She also took part in the Access to Justice Traveling Expungement Clinic after her second year of law school, where she provided necessary Spanish language translation skills in addition to the work she did on expungements.  

Before coming to law school, Galvan worked in higher education civil rights investigations. Upon passing the bar exam, she will begin her legal career as an Associate Attorney with Dykema.
