Detroit Mercy Law Student Evelyn Galvan awarded scholarship from Wolverine Bar Association
University of Detroit Mercy School of Law first year student Evelyn Galvan was recently awarded the Wolverine Bar Foundation Scholarship.
“As a woman of color raised in a low-income home in Detroit, I make conscious effort to continually question the world around me. When I reflect on the low numbers of people of color in law school and the legal profession, it highlights the barriers to education, including the financial barriers,” explained Galvan. “Detroit has given me so much, and I desire to give back to the city as a future lawyer.”
This summer, Galvan will be splitting her time between externing in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan and as a summer associate at Bush Seyferth PLLC.
At Detroit Mercy Law, Galvan is the Secretary for the Hispanic and Latino/a Law Students Association and is a member of the Black Law Students Association.
