2026 Commencement
Friday, May 8, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. (EST), Calihan Hall, McNichols Campus
The University of Detroit Mercy School of Law will celebrate the graduating class of 2026 at the Commencement Ceremony on Friday, May 8 at 2:00 p.m. in Calihan Hall on the McNichols Campus of University of Detroit Mercy. Graduates, dignitaries, and faculty are expected to arrive at Calihan no later than 1:00 p.m. Guests may begin to be seated in Calihan Hall at 1:00 p.m. and should be seated by 1:45 p.m. to make way for the academic procession.

University of Detroit Mercy School of Law students won the 2026 Gender and Sexuality Moot Court Competition—a testament to the mission of educating the complete lawyer.
Detroit Mercy Law is the first and only law school to offer an online JD program in Michigan. Applications are now open for the first incoming class, to begin in fall 2026. The program is designed to be a fully-online, part-time, four-year program. 
University of Detroit Mercy School of Law’s 2024 graduates achieved a 93 percent employment rate in legal and professional positions. Graduates secured employment in a variety of settings, including positions with law firms, courts, and government, business, and public interest organizations across the United States and Canada.
