UDM LAW STUDENTS AND ALUMNI PEACEFULLY PROTEST NEW YORK CHOKE-HOLD DEATH

UDM Law students Charity Dean and Justin Strayhorn and alumnus Macie Tuiasosopo ('13) are featured in a Detroit Free Press online video and article, "Protests over NYPD choke-hold death spread to Detroit," for their participation in a December 4 peaceful protest in Detroit following the grand jury's decision not to indict the New York City police officer for the choke-hold death of Eric Garner, an African American.

Student Robbie Gaines was also featured in a television interview on WDIV – Detroit Local 4 News, an NBC affiliate, on December 6 in which he praised the diversity of the crowd of more than 100 people who came together to peacefully protest in downtown Detroit during the Noel night festivities, and he pledged to spend his career fighting for civil rights.
