Law Review.  I realized that I’ve been talking a lot about Law Review, and “editing”…and I realized that I haven’t said that much about what it’s actually all about. Rather than talk more about how much I love my internship, I thought I would give you a little insight into this particular facet of my law-school life.  Law Review is, first and foremost, a publication. We publish articles that analyze new laws, discuss the implications ...

June 11th, 2011Summer is in full swing!  I’ve been doing a lot of Law Review this summer. Between reading article submissions, grading write-on competition pieces, and editing articles, it’s basically been like a full-time job. Fortunately, the work is enjoyable enough, and everything is so varied, so it has been pretty painless.  In addition to the full-time job that is Law Review, I’ve also begun interning full time at the federal c...

April 29th, 2011I have a lot going on, so no long posts for awhile, but here are a few thoughts for the day:  1. I have officially decided that I prefer in-class examinations to take-homes. For me I guess the pressure of sitting there and having to bust out a couple brilliant essays in a matter of three hours is preferable to getting forty eight hours to work on something that would probably only take three hours if I would just stay focuse...

April 27th, 2011I guess this is supposed to be final exam crunch time, so why do I feel so relaxed?  This semester I have three final exams. My final for Criminal Law is a two-part: we had a short, multiple-choice style exam in class last Thursday (the types of questions that we will encounter on the multi-state section of the Bar exam). We got the scores for those today, and I was pretty pleased with my results. Now, I just have a take-hom...

April 16th, 2011Time flies when you’re in law school.  Next week is the last full week of classes, and all of us are left asking ourselves “where has the time gone?!” I thought things would be less busy once I made it through March, but that’s proving to be an incorrect presumption: I’m busier than ever!  Last night, I joined my fellow Moot Court Board members for our end-of-the year banquet. It was a great opportunity for all of us t...

April 7th, 2011This has been a rough week.   It’s taking me longer than I expected to get back into my usual routine, and I worry about how much longer I can keep up this insane pace. It seems like everyone around me is sick, and I feel like my immune system is starting to give in to the peer pressure: all I want to do is sleep. That being said, there are only eleven hours until my weekend starts…and I should actually have the chance t...

March 30th, 2011Greetings from 32,000 feet! What a month!  On Sunday, I turned in my final draft of my law review comment…and now I’m finished with most of my big projects. My law review obligations (at least as a junior member…) are basically done. For moot court, I have finished coaching my assigned 1L students for the G. Mennen competition this weekend, so now moot court is done. I have a small writing assignment for my Constitutional La...

March 24th, 2011CRUNCH!!  T minus three days and counting…and then I am finished with my law review comment!  Today is one of my notoriously busy Thursdays. After today, I am prepared to spend the rest of my weekend writing about organ donation. And then hopefully never thinking about organ donation again!  Today in trial practice, we have a review day. (At first I was all excited because I figured “review” meant “nothing to pre...

March 19th, 2011Today was Day 14 in my “let’s see how many days in a row I can make the trip downtown” adventure.  Today was the second day of the Patrick A. Keenan Memorial Appellate Advocacy Tournament. As an incoming editor of law review, I am not eligible for a position as a national team member next year (and competing for those positions was a big part of this competition), so the pressure was off. My partner and I ende...

March 14th, 2011I’m starting to feel like I live at school…I just never seem to leave!  In addition to my usual schedule last week, I was also downtown Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. It also feels like every week I add a few hours to my normal “at school”  time.   My moot court preparations have been coming together: I almost have both arguments prepared!  My law review comment is taking a bit longer. I had to rework th...
