I'm Jessica and I'm the newest "voice" of UDM Law. I just finished my second year of law school, which makes me a 3L...finally! Actually, I shouldn't say "finally" because the past two years have flown by and I'm still in shock that I only have a year left before I have to take the Bar. Scary!!
Although I'm a little nervous and everything has been a whirlwind, I am so happy that I made the decision to come to law school, especially UDM. I don't think I would have had such a positive experience if I had gone elsewhere. The faculty and staff are wonderful and my peers are just as great. Before coming to law school, I heard horror stories-ruthless competition between students, terrifying professors, a non-existent social life, and an all around awful environment. Thankfully, the stories were false!! Don't get me wrong, law school has had its awful moments, profs have been on the scary side, and the competition has heated up, but it has NEVER been at an outrageous and unbearable level.
My experiences have been pretty great. I've made some amazing friends and developed great connections with several profs. Some of my coolest moments are when I'm working as a law clerk and I realize that I've already learned the material or done a similar thing in the classroom! It's so great and it makes me feel like all my hardwork and dedication is not in vain. I truely believe that UDM and the people involved with the law school have a lot to do with those great experiences.
There's so much more I could say about the school, the people, and my experiences, but I'll save it for another [rainy] day. Have a great week!!
