Blog Entry 66
April 16th, 2010
It’s been an interesting couple days.
We had the excitement of the election on Tuesday, where my fellow blogger Ashley was re-elected as president of our class.
Yesterday, I had my moot court oral argument tryout. I felt like it went well, but there are quite a few of us competing for a relatively small number of spots. We don’t find out the results until after first year grades are released…yet another waiting game.
Yesterday, we also had a speaker in Property. As part of each class at UDM Law, there is supposed to be some sort of ethical component. Our speaker was a Michigan judge who has been recognized on numerous occasions for his level of professional conduct. We went through the Lawyer’s Oath line by line and he talked with us about the different implications of each clause. He had a lot of interesting stories, and it was a nice break from our usual material for that class. I think it also helped remind my class why we are all here; it’s pretty easy to become jaded during your first year, so it always helps to look at the bigger picture and think ahead to after graduation.
After I got home, I was so mentally drained that I took the opportunity to go rollerblading (7.5 miles!); I then did a little bit of reading for Friday, and then got to bed relatively early.
Today, my school day is over at 10:30am. After that, I have no clue what I’m going to do with my time. I babysit today 3:30-6:30 and have reading to complete for tomorrow; after that, I’m sure I can find something productive to do. I really need to get working on my outlining…next Wednesday marks the end of classes and then finals start the following Tuesday. Yikes!
