April 8th, 2010
Spring has sprung. We have our proverbial “April Showers,” and tree and flower pollen is taking over the world. Delightful.
So my week has been somewhat productive. I determined that the only way I would be able to get anything accomplished this week was if I scheduled out every hour of my week. (Of course, I did make sure to schedule a couple hours each day to do unscheduled items…and yes, I realize that seems neurotic.) For my fellow procrastinators, I cannot even begin to say how important it is to find some sort of time management technique that works for you. I’m sure I’ve said it before, but doing things last minute just doesn’t cut it in law school. (I think my way works for me because it helps me to focus on one task, without having to worry about anything else getting accomplished. Because everything I have to do is on the schedule, I know that, as long as I do each individual task as scheduled, everything will get done.)
Last night I went to a Westlaw certification course (I am now certified in statutory research), got home at 5:45pm, made some dinner, worked on my moot court application packet, and then got out my CivPro materials and began outlining.
I should admit that I also watched Law and Order: SVU and made rice krispie treats for ALTA. Instead of having a normal ALTA class today (what would have been our last class), we suggested, and Professor Paruch agreed, that it would be a good idea for us to have a party. Of course, many of us still have our final assignment to complete…but it will still be nice to take some time to relax and have fun in the middle of the week.
This weekend is going to be a busy one. My planner puts Thursday through Sunday on a single page and there is barely any empty space to write anything else. Fortunately, I don’t have to babysit this afternoon, so that should give me sufficient time to get a lot accomplished. I hope you all have a wonderful (and productive) weekend!
