Today’s my lucky day…no, it really is!
Last night was a miserable night for me; I had a lot going on at home, ended up awake until 2am working on homework, had to be up at 7am and then I ended up twenty minutes late to class this morning because of construction on I-96, combined with a center lane accident. During rush hour. Headed downtown. Yuck. No, that’s not the lucky part.
Then, we had an extended ALTA class (about two and a half hours instead of the usual hour and a half) where we began working on our oral arguments for the quickly approaching moot court competition. We all had the opportunity to present our introductions and receive feedback on our content and presentation. It was very helpful; the pressure of having to present something to my professor and peers forced me to really work on it, and I was excited to find out that I’m pretty much headed in the right direction with everything. I felt pretty good leaving class, maybe not enough to count as “lucky,” but still pretty good.
After my civpro review session, I got a phone call from one of the agencies to which I applied for a summer externship…I have an interview next week. (I did get a call from another agency yesterday, and scheduled an interview with them too. I just decided to leave you all in suspense another day…) I’d say this is where the luck started kicking in.
Then, I got home early from babysitting, early enough to ride my bike to the post office (in the BEAUTIFUL weather) to pick up a certified letter that I, personally, had to sign for. I was really confused as to what it was. Well, back in May, when I had this thing called “free time,” I entered a Pedigree essay contest, where I wrote about why my dog deserved a year’s supply of dog food, and I won. No, that is not the exciting part…I found out about that back in September. This letter was telling me that they screwed up, and the coupons they sent me for free dog food would expire before the year was over (I was just planning to go and stockpile it in my basement…), so they hoped that sending me coupons for another twelve bags of dry food would make up for it.
I would say that unexpectedly receiving 240 pounds of free dog food seals this as a lucky day…wouldn’t you?
(Oh, and to top it all off, this is my 50th blog post. Coincidence? I think not.)
