Back in full swing (really never stopped)
Today concludes the 4th week of classes for me. This semester I started the JD/MBA program and now spend my time between two campuses. The nature of my life remains busy but I am enjoying every moment of my journey. I'm enrolled in four (1 business & 3 law) classes this term.
This school year will prove to be my busiest, yet most rewarding. I am especially delighted and honored to serve as President to my fellow members of the Black Law Students Association (BLSA). We have very high goals and an aggressive agenda. Stay tuned as I fill you in on the fun.
Since my last blog, I kept myself so busy leaving no time for one of my favorite things – BLOGGING. So, here's a quick debrief. . .
Over the summer I worked as a Fellow at Community Legal Resources (CLR). I was awarded this opportunity through Voice for Justice Fellowship (VFJ). Any student at UDM can apply and compete to become a VFJ Fellow, thankfully I was one in few selected. Students chosen as Fellows use their summers to work in the public sector representing the interest of community members who do not have access to legal representation. I spent my summer working at CLR a community based non-profit.
I was also enrolled in one TAX course and continued to work my regular job. My life was high speed all summer. Not to mention I worked with other E-Board members of BLSA nearly every week to plan this school year for the organization. My tax final and the Fellowship ended around the same time (about 2 weeks before regular classes resumed). So, I did what any stressed person would do – took a week solo trip to Florida. It was beautiful.
