Lunch at the Michigan Bar Exam

U.S. SUPREME COURT CASE CO-COUNSEL DANA NESSEL TO SPEAK ON MARRIAGE EQUALITY CASE OF DEBOER V SNYDER

Dana Nessel, co-counsel for the DeBoer - Rowse family, will speak at UDM Law on Tuesday, March 24, at 7:00 p.m. in Room 226.  Ms. Nessel will discuss DeBoer v. Snyder, the Michigan case that the U.S. Supreme Court will hear in April as one of four cases the Justices are considering regarding same-sex marriage.  DeBoer v. Snyder challenges Michigan’s laws forbidding same-sex marriage and same-sex second-parent adoptions. Ms. Nessel will discuss the history and progression of DeBoer v. Snyder and what it means for the U.S. Supreme Court to hear this landmark case.  Her remarks will be followed by a Q & A session. This event is free and open to the public.  Due to the anticipated interest, however, RESERVATIONS ARE REQUIRED.  Please call 313-993-3270 to RSVP (you may leave a message). Baccalaureate Mass

The Baccalaureate Mass for the Class of 2015 will take place on Thursday, May 7, at 5:00 p.m. at Saints Peter and Paul Jesuit Church immediately adjacent to UDM Law.  Graduates, faculty, and administrators should wear their academic attire, including their hoods, and gather by 4:30 p.m. in the first-floor hallway opposite the SBA office.  Graduates and guests may park in the Larned and Christ Church parking lots.

Commencement and Reception

Commencement proceedings for the School of Law's Class of 2015 will occur on Friday, May 8, at 6:00 p.m. in Calihan Hall on the McNichols Campus of the University of Detroit Mercy.  The jubilee class of 1965 will lead the procession.  A light reception will immediately follow the ceremony in the Fitness Center, which is a short walk from Calihan Hall, at approximately 8:00 p.m.
