    Melinda R. Desantis 13

    Melinda DeSantis Zatkoff, an intellectual property attorney in the Ann Arbor office of Brinks Gilson & Lione, co-authored an article in the legal trade publication, IP Law 360. The article is based on a new report spearheaded by her entitled, Patent Related Trends in the Automotive Industry.

    Meagan Hanna 12

    A new Assistant Prosecuting Attorney (APA) in Grand Traverse, MI, Meagan Hanna works with six attorneys and six secretaries in the office, all with their various specialties. Since starting her job, she has written three Court of Appeals briefs, as well as driver's license restoration appeals briefs. Ms. Hanna also shadowed the APA in charge of juvenile delinquency and abuse and neglect cases, in order to take over the misdemeanor domestic violence court for three weeks. In the courtroom she has done Allegedly Mentally Ill commitment hearings, and two jury trials; one a reckless driving case, and the second a solo trial for a disturbing the peace charge.

    Shannon (Snee) Sacca 10

    Alumni Shannon (Snee) Sacca and Corey Sacca ('09) were married on September 28, 2013 at St. Peter's Parish in Pittsburgh, PA. Their reception took place at PNC Park (home of the MLB's Pittsburgh Pirates). Alumni in attendance were Khalil Rahal ('09), Eamonn Neary ('09), Hazem Alsahlani ('09), Pablo Velez ('09), Amanda Bley ('09), Jennifer Brimley ('10), and Sarah DeMellier ('11). Shannon works for Notaro Gordon & Associates, P.C. in Pittsburgh, PA where she concentrates her practice in Family Law. Corey works for Bononi & Company, P.C. in Greensburg, PA where he concentrates his practice in Bankruptcy Law.

    Ellisse S. Thompson 13

    Attorney Ellisse S. Thompson joined the Tort & Litigation and Transportation Law practice groups of the firm Plunkett Cooney. She focuses her litigation practice primarily in the areas of motor vehicle negligence and no-fault law. Ms. Thompson represents clients through their insurance providers and commercial fleet owners directly when claims exceed insurance coverage limits. In addition to her motor vehicle liability expertise, Ms. Thompson's practice includes trucking liability, premises liability, governmental law, environmental law, construction law and workers' compensation. Prior to joining Plunkett Cooney, Ms. Thompson worked as an appellate research clerk in the firm's Detroit office. She also previously worked as a judicial intern for the Honorable Nancy G. Edmunds at the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan.

    Erin L. Stafford 13

    Attorney Erin L. Stafford joined the Professional Liability Practice Group of Plunkett Cooney, one of the Midwest's oldest and largest law firms. An attorney in the firm's Bloomfield Hills, MI office, Stafford focuses her practice in the area of professional liability with an emphasis on claims against attorneys, accountants, insurance agents and real estate professionals. She defends clients in legal malpractice actions with various types of underlying cases, including collections, bankruptcy, failing to detect fraud, Michigan No-Fault Law, medical malpractice, real estate law, probate law and banking law. While in law school, Stafford worked as a teaching assistant for legal writing. Prior to joining the firm, she participated in Plunkett Cooney's Summer Associate Program, a 12-week assignment that provides hands on experience to law school students. She also interned for Judge Marianne O. Battani of the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan.

    Howard & Howard Attorneys PLLC is pleased to announce that Mr. Minna has been selected to participate in the Detroit Regional Chamber's Leadership Detroit program, a 10-month transformational leadership program designed to challenge emerging and existing community leaders from Southeast Michigan to bring about positive change.  Minna concentrates his practice in intellectual property law with an emphasis on preparing and prosecuting U.S. and foreign patent applications primarily in the mechanical arts.

    John F. Price 12

    John Price is putting the skills he gained in law school to good use as a real estate agent, advocating, negotiating, counseling, and navigating the transactional process for his clients. After earning his license to sell real estate, Mr. Price joined Keller Williams Realty in Ann Arbor, Michigan in March 2013. Successful in his time there, he was recruited by the Bouma Group, where he now serves the greater Ann Arbor luxury market. Mr. Price, who values being involved in his community, was recently re-appointed to the City of Saline Environmental Commission. He is a shareholder at Sensors, Inc., where he worked full time before transitioning to real estate.

    Matthew G. Berard 12

    Mr. Berard joined the firm of Plunkett Cooney, focusing his practice primarily in the area of insurance coverage. A member of the firm's Bloomfield Hills office, Mr. Berard handles complex coverage matters involving environmental issues on behalf of national insurance carriers. He also prepares coverage opinions and proposed coverage position letters pertaining to claims of advertising injury, personal injury, pollution, defective products, automobile injuries and collisions, premises liability, breach of contract litigation and construction defects. Currently a student pilot, Mr. Berard has an interest in aviation insurance, including aircraft hull and liability policies, aircraft products, grounding liability and general aviation liability coverage.

    Mr. Catrinar, associate attorney, has joined the litigation team in the Farmington Hills office of Kaufman, Payton & Chapa PC. Catrinar’s practice represents companies and individuals in complex commercial litigation, insurance coverage, construction defect, automobile negligence, commercial fraud and dram shop liability. Catrinar also has experience in appellate practice and procedure.

    Patrick M. Edwartowski 12

    Mr. Edwartowski has joined the Southfield, Michigan-based Collins Einhorn Farrell firm, working in the Asbestos/Toxic Tort Practice Group. He will concentrate his practice on asbestos and toxic tort defense litigation. Before joining the firm, he gained experience in the areas of insurance law, Michigan No-Fault automobile insurance law, business entity structure and governance, probate, personal injury, medical liability, municipal zoning, property disputes and civil rights.

    Alexander M. Leonowicz 12

    Mr. Leonowicz has joined the firm of Howard & Howard Attorneys PLLC, practicing out of the firm's Royal Oak Office. Mr. Leonowicz concentrates his practice on a wide range of litigation matters and disputes focusing primarily on business and corporate law as well as commercial litigation. Prior to joining Howard & Howard, Mr. Leonowicz was a Summer Associate with the firm. During law school, he worked in the Oakland County Circuit Court as a clerk for the Chief Circuit Court Judge Pro Tempore Shalina Kumar. He is also the President and Founder of the Orchard Lake St. Mary's Bar Association.

    Nathan Lichtman 12

    Mr. Lichtman joined the attorney team of Potestivo & Associates, P.C. in November 2013. He is located at the firm's Rochester Hills, MI office, serving as an Associate Attorney. Mr. Lichtman is assisting with the firm's Illinois operations. He has an established presence at the firm, as he has been employed as a Title Coordinator/Law Clerk at the Rochester Hills office since March 2013. Prior to joining Potestivo & Associates, P.C., Mr. Lichtman worked for over two years as a Title Review Law Clerk at a Detroit area law firm. During his final year of law school, Mr. Lichtman was a member of the Veterans Appellate Clinic and assisted with representing disabled veterans for potential appeals before the U.S. Court of Appeals for Veterans Claims. Mr. Lichtman is a member of the State Bar of Michigan and the Oakland County Bar Association. He looks forward to further exploring and expanding his professional interests and areas of practice, which include real property law, creditors' rights, and title resolution.

    Frank D. Paolini 12

    Mr. Paolini has joined Plunkett Cooney as a member of the firm's Banking, Bankruptcy & Creditors' Rights Practice Group. Initially a part of the firm's 2011 Summer Associate program in the group, he is now a member of the Bloomfield Hills office. Mr. Paolini focuses his practice in the areas of loan origination and troubled asset workouts. Prior to joining the firm, he externed in the Public Integrity, Homicide, and Community Prosecutions Divisions of the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office. He received his law degree, magna cum laude, from UDM Law, serving as the Executive Director of the Moot Court Board of Advocates and as a Senior Editor of the Law Review while here. He also participated in University of Detroit Criminal Defense Clinic and served as a contributing student member of the Dean's Advisory Committee.

    Shannon Murphy 13

    Ms. Murphy has accepted a position of associate attorney at Reising Ethington with the Medical Device industry team. Murphy brings first-hand experience of China’s IP Law system to Reising’s Medical Device industry team. She participated in a study abroad program at the Peking University Institute of Intellectual Property in Beijing, China. Her studies focused on intellectual property and international business organizations, and included instruction from Chief Judge Randall Rader of the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.

    Parker Stinar has joined the firm of McKeen & Associates as an associate. Mr. Stinar will concentrate his practice on the areas of medical malpractice, wrongful death, general negligence, birth trauma and auto negligence. He comes to the Detroit-based medical malpractice litigation firm from a national real estate company, where he served as legal counsel. Mr. Stinar is admitted to practice in the State of Michigan and U.S. District Court Eastern District of Michigan. He is a member of the Michigan Association for Justice, American Bar Association, State Bar of Michigan (Young Lawyers Section) and Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association.

    Sydney Rushing 14

    Sydney Rushing received the Pro Bono Service Award from the Detroit Metropolitan Bar Association Barristers' Section. As a member of Detroit Mercy Law's Solo and Small Firm Incubator Attorney Program, she started her own solo law practice focusing on criminal defense and provided more than 500 hours of pro bono legal services.
