Along with four other attorneys, Ms. Selby was recognized by the Criminal Defense Attorneys of Michigan (CDAM) for advocacy on the issue of juvenile life without parole. One of the first cases of its kind in the Michigan courts, attorneys are awaiting leave to appeal at the Supreme Court. Susan Dabaja celebrated a milestone on Tuesday, November 5, coming in first place in Dearborn, Michigan's City Council race for council president. The first-time candidate won after a tight race that had her and incumbent city council president, Tom Tafelski, neck and neck until all of the City's 56 precincts had been counted. She won by 32 votes. Her four-year term begins January 1. Ms. Dabaja said her goal wasn't to finish first, it was to be in the top seven and earn a seat on the council. Her goal now is to give back to the community and promote unity.
